about us
AIMS FOR COMPUTER HARDWARE TECH.

This Computer Hardware Technology Programme is designed to produce graduates who are not only technically proficient but also entrepreneurial, safety-conscious, and aligned with the digital economic goals of Ghana.

  • To Develop Foundational Technical Proficiency in Computer Hardware Systems.
  • To Equip Students with Practical Maintenance, Repair, and Networking Skills.
  • To Foster Professionalism, Safety, and Entrepreneurial Capability.
  • To Align Skills Development with National Digital Transformation and Sustainability Goals.
OBJECTIVES FOR COMPUTER HARDWARE TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
  • To identify, describe the function of, and correctly install all core internal and external hardware components of a modern personal computer (e.g., motherboards, CPUs, RAM, storage devices, PSUs, GPUs, peripherals).
  • To perform routine and preventative maintenance on computer systems, including cleaning, component testing, and hardware upgrades to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • To instil a strong culture of safety, ethics, and professional conduct in the workplace, including proper tool handling, component disposal (e-waste awareness), and client data privacy.
  • o promote an understanding of and skills in the circular economy, specifically the refurbishment, repurposing, and responsible recycling of electronic equipment to reduce e-waste.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Network Engineers: A Network Engineer is an IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the computer networks that organizations rely on. These networks include local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), cloud networks, and other data communication systems.
Computer Scientist:is a professional who studies the principles and theories of computation and information. They are less focused on the physical machines (hardware) or specific end-user applications and more on the abstract foundations, algorithms, and processes that make computing possible.
IT Specialist:a professional who possesses expert knowledge and skills in a specific area of Information Technology (IT). Unlike more generalist roles, an IT Specialist focuses deeply on a particular technology, system, or platform
Computer Engineers: a professional who designs and develops the physical components (hardware) and the low-level software (firmware) that make computers and computer-based systems work. They work at the intersection of electrical engineering and computer science, focusing on the integration of hardware and software.
