It is with great pleasure and a deep sense of responsibility that I welcome you all to a new academic session in the Department of Electrical Engineering Technology. Whether you are a returning member of our vibrant community or joining us for the first time, I extend my warmest greetings. Our department stands at the forefront of innovation and applied learning, committed to equipping students with the technical expertise, critical thinking, and ethical grounding required to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
As we embark on this academic journey together, I encourage each of you to engage fully with the opportunities ahead—be it through research, collaborative projects, internships, or professional development initiatives. Brief History of Electrical Engineering Technology Departmeent


Kpantech actually started Electrical Installation Work Course ‘B’ in the year 1974. Before one could be enrolled to undertake the course, the learner should have passed Common Entrance Exams conducted by the West African Examination Council and had done Basic Engineering Trade Subject Electrical for Two (2) years. The first batch of students started in September 1972 to June 1974. Those students wrote City and Guilds of London Examination and the successful ones were enrolled to do Electrical installation work course ‘B’. Below are names of Heads of Departments with their names and their respective tenure of office:

- Mr. Alexander Adu: 1977- 1978
- Mr. B.C.K Tabi: 1978 – 1988
- Mr. W.K Dogbe 1987 – 2004
- Mr. J.P. Tettey: 2004 – 2006
- Mr. Issac Osei Ankamah : 2006 – 2009
- Mr. W.K Djampoh: 2009 – 2014
- Mr. I.K. Atengble: 2014 – Date
Previously, the department ran courses in Mechanics, Electrical Installation Work course ‘B’ and ‘C’ and Electrical Engeneering Technician Part I & II.
Currently, the department is running the revised National Certificate I & II curriculum introduced by CTVET in 2024. This curriculum is geared towards driving home the industrialization agenda of country.
We Train Learners With Skills for the Industry
The Department is committed to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with the technical, analytical, and entrepreneurial skills demanded by the 21st-century job market.In alignment with Ghana’s TVET transformation agenda, the department integrates competency-based training (CBT), hands-on laboratory experience, and digital literacy into its curriculum.
Through partnerships with industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and TVET institutions, the department emphasizes work-based learning, internships, and certification pathways that enhance employability and adaptability. Students are trained to meet both local and global standards, with a focus on innovation, problem-solving, and continuous learning. By aligning with Ghana’s TVET reforms—such as the establishment of the Commission for TVET (CTVET) and the Ghana Skills Development
