Digital Revolution at the Polls: KPANTECH Students Cast Ballots for 2026 SRC Leadership

KPANDO, VOLTA REGION – The atmosphere at Kpando Technical Institute (The Great KPANTECH) was electric today as hundreds of students headed to the digital polls to elect their next crop of Student Representative Council (SRC) executives for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Building on the landmark “Digital Ballot” initiative pioneered last year, the 2026 elections saw a fully integrated online voting system designed to eliminate the long queues and manual counting errors of the past. From the early hours of the morning, students could be seen gathered in designated ICT zones and common areas, accessing the secure election portal via their unique student IDs.

The Electoral Commission (EC), led by the Mr. Adeti and student EC officials, emphasized that this year’s digital rollout focused on three pillars: transparency, accessibility, and speed.

“We have evolved from the days of paper ballots,” noted one EC official. “The system allows about 50 students to vote simultaneously, with the entire process taking less than two minutes per person. This ensures that academic activities are not disrupted while ensuring every voice is heard.

Voices from the Campus

For many first-year students, this was their first encounter with a fully digital electoral process.

“It’s very straightforward,” said a first-year Fashion Design student shortly after casting her vote. “Last year we heard about the ‘Digital Ballot,’ but experiencing it today makes you feel like the school is really moving forward with technology.”

While the digital system has streamlined the process, the traditional spirit of KPANTECH elections remained. Groups of supporters could be heard chanting campaign slogans at a respectful distance from the “voting centers,” adding a layer of vibrant school culture to the high-tech proceedings.

Polls officially closed at 5:00 PM today, with the automated tallying system expected to generate the results in record time. The administration has assured all candidates that a public, auditable result log will be made available to ensure absolute transparency.

As the campus awaits the final announcement, one thing is clear: KPANTECH is not just teaching technical skills in the classroom—it is practicing them in the heart of its own governance.
